Another silly contest from silly-o me. As the title says, this is a matching game. I give you 10 sock yarn images, you guess who makes them. Don’t worry, I’m not that hard on ya, making you do tons of searching, I’m gonna provide a “word bank” 🙂

And if no one gets any right…you guessed it…random drawing from all the comments. Hmm I hope that’s all explained correctly.

I’m really ticked. Grrrrrrrr. I just updated to the latest wordpress version 2.2 and for some reason all my side widgets are not showing up or they just go fritzy. So my links are not showing up, I really hope to figure this crappiness out.

ETA: Alrighty, I think it’s fixed, if ya’ll catch any weird glitches please let me know. 🙂

I’ve been M.I.A. for a bit. I didn’t think working would tire me out so much but gosh, night shifts at the hospital really drain me. I come home and just sleep the day away and then up I go to work, in the dark. 😦

Anyhow, I finally have some socks for submittion to Socktopia, yippee!

Opal Sock Farbe 185 Update

Well, I finally finished the second sock. I did not get the chance to ask my cousin to try out the first one and just went ahead and made the second one. Unfinished projects slightly bother me, especially if they were intended for someone. The yarn wasn’t spectacular to work with. I’ve heard that it softens up nicely after a wash or two so that would be great, since it’s feeling a bit stiff and slightly plastic-like. I’ve soaked them in some wool wash and blocked them. Now my question is, how to ya’ll wrap socks? I fold them and they look weird cuz of the heel and then I try to roll them up and they still look odd. How in the world do I make them pretty and presentable? BTW, I am soooo in love with the Soak wool wash A scent for Celebration fragrance. It just sucks that they make the limited edition ones in such a smaller size bottle. 😦

28 Weeks Later

I really liked 28 Days Later and had low expectations for the sequel 28 Weeks Later but was pleasantly surprised. The plot was decent, and the characters were interesting. Some of the scenes were really intense, I jumped a few times in my seat. The ending did leave me slightly confused since I tend to over analyze movies thinking there’s always more or that the movie purposely had a hidden meaning sort of deal. But dear BF says that’s how zombie movies are, there is no actual resolution or answer. Over all, if you’re interested in a scary-ish end of the world, disease and infection type of a movie, go check it out.  🙂


First Baby Blanket

My non-sock project is an actual baby blanket. I actually had the idea to knit up a baby blanket for my cousin to be last year when I first learned how to knit. I bought the yarn and everything, but it just never came to be. Now that I’m sticking with knitting, I thought I’d give the baby blanket idea another try. I’m lucky enough to be blessed with a baby niece and I can’t wait for her to get here. So I am determined to make this baby blanket happen and to finish it for sure. It is going good so far. I decided on using Aunt Pearl’s Cabled Baby Blanket pattern from Knitting Pattern Central. With a little tweaking here and there, I’m grooving with the pattern.

First Bably blanket

I’m using Plymouth Encore in the 7065 color. A big difference from the sock yarn I’ve been working with. The process is really good for me. I am able to see where I need improvement on, which is everything. My stitches are a bit lopsided. Either I’m purling too losely or my knit stitch is tighter. But this is good practice. Especially since I get to practice the whole cable-ling (how do you write it?) without a cable needle.  And trying out different techniques with attaching yarn since I have a few skeins that are slightly different in lot number so I’m trying to rotate them in.

Oh, slight question for those who’ve used this yarn before…is it blockable? I’ve never blocked anything other than socks so I’m really curious. The yarn is 75% acrylic but it is also 25% wool. How would I go about it?


Doubly Tagged

I had a crazy moment when I checked my mail. Two people (Trish and Zu) had tagged me for the same random facts game. Just so odd. I’ve been debating this, do I continue to the chain and torture others with this game too? Yup. I’m pretty mean so whahahaha. *evil grin*

Finals are done!

Ahhhhh I get to finally relax for a little bit before summer sessions begins. I’m soooooo gonna try to be knitting up a storm. I have a non-sock project in mind that I will post about when I get my needles clickin’ on it.

I would like to send out a super THANK YOU to Kirsten from Through the Loops! for such an awesome package that was really unexpected. I was randomly picked out of her tons of comments to receive a package and I love it! A skein of STR Marbles colorway in medium weight. I have no idea what to do with it but just fondle it for now. Oh and yeah, yummy yummy chocolate in my tummy. heheh. Now I must get to some knitting so I can actually have something to post about. 🙂

I hope everyone had a fantastic Saturday!

I’ve been bumming it and really not studying at all. Just going back and forth with notes and TV. Anyhow, I do have a winner for my contest and she pretty much had ya’ll beat comment-wise so the odds were on her side. My last week winner is also this weeks winner…TRISH. BUT also ZEHAVA. I’m in a giving mood so I used a random generator to pick the second winner. hehe.

I love it when ya’ll comment, and I love to give sock yarn, so if there are blurkers out there, comment and you might get some lovin’ back. 🙂
