Back to Basics

Posted in Knitting, Socks at 8:23 pm by Jennie

I’ve been busy knitting up socks for my Knitty Sock Swap Pal and it’s been interesting. Moving a few steps back from doing a Cookie A. design to just a simple Sensation Knitted Socks pattern. Plus I get to use my nifty new Crystal Palace DPNs and I really like them. They are much more pointier than my Clovers and a lot smoother. I think I may need more Oh and I am working with Cherry Tree Hill and gosh, I feel like I’ve been missing out. The yarn is really nice to work with. It’s super squishy and there is a great stretch to it. Which kinda makes me worry since I cast on 72 stitches and think the socks may be too big. These will eventually be made to fit a women’s US size 10 shoe. On a exciting note, I’m finally working my way through my “fancy” stash and it’s fantastic.

Weird how the colors look different in each pic. The colorway is Wild Cherry, yummy! 🙂

I finally had it with some of my projects that were just hanging around in limbo and just said the heck with it and finished one. My cabled earflap hat that I started in November 2006. Yeah, no earflaps, just being lazy. The hat fits fantastic and I used Misti Alpaca Chunky. It’s super soft and I love touching it but dang, I had trouble with all the fiber coming off of it as I knit it up.

I really like the top.

OH, by the way,I was reading one of my fav blogs, Knitting Sutra and Jen has a really interesting contest going on. Check it out here. The prize is really awesome and the result will help us all out. The contest seems simple enough; all you have to do is share info about a pattern that will prevent pooling.

Yarn Pirate Sock Club

Posted in Random Me, Stash at 2:25 pm by Jennie

I’m going to be horrible and just blab about my awesome shipment from the Yarn Pirate Sock Club. I’ve taken some pics, but I don’t want to ruin the surprise for anyone, so they’ll be posted a little later on in the week. But yeah, if you’re in the club and received your package, isn’t it just a really great deal? This is my first sock club I’ve ever joined and am sooooo glad I did. The price is really reasonable and you’re guaranteed some unique colorways. And for those who know how I am, I’ll probably never get to knitting up the yarn since I believe I have officially become a obssessed hoarder collector of fine yarn.

July Contest

Posted in Contests at 5:51 pm by Jennie

Okay, here’s my lil’ contest for this month. Since it’s also my birthday, I want to treat the winner to some nice sock yarn. Here’s what you’ll get to pick from…and there’s a mystery choice. You can choose any of these yarns you see or be surprised and pick the mystery choice which will be revealed in the end, but only after the winner has chosen. 🙂

Contest: I just recently placed an order for more sock yarn. If you can guess the name of the yarn than you win, and if you can guess how many skeins of that yarn you will win the mystery choice too. Simple, right? And just to help out, the yarn is from a famous Indie dyer. I’ll post pics when the the yarn comes in. Let’s have the contest end Sunday night 11:59pm Central Time. If no one gets it right, than everyone’s name will be thrown into the random generator.

Here are your choices…

Sockapalooza progress…

Posted in Knitting at 1:09 am by Jennie

I’ve been really busy with school and work and sadly don’t spend enough time knitting. The socks for my Sockapalooza4 Pal are coming along slowly but surely. I may be part of the minority here, but I’m kinda a fan of pooling and was hoping that the Lorna’s Laces would pool, but not luck, just the stripes. But then I did get a bit a pooling and the awesome part about it is that the socks are a perfect match. There’s the blue pooling on one side and the pinkish red pools on the other. Both socks are mirror images of each other, hehe. Or what I call close enough to matching pretty darn nicely. I’m knitting these socks up on Inox 2.5mm DPNs and I have to say that I’m a fan of the needles. I’ve been using my clovers for awhile now and anything heavy just doesn’t seem to do it for me. I had tried to used my cheap-o Aluminum needles but they felt so heavy in comparison the bamboo, but gosh, the Inox are really light. I have to have more. Anywho, the colorway is the LL Uptown and I hate to say this but I really like the way they looked as hanks than kit up with the color combo. They just don’t seem to look as “wow”. They are colors my pal likes so hopefully she’ll like them too. I really hope I can finish these up by the end of the week so I can start on another pair for another pal, and finish up all the one’s I’ve already been working on.

Monkey Monkey Monkey

I’m so giddy that the pooling matches up-ish. 🙂

Secret Pal 9 Package 1

Thanks to my secret pal (Secret Pal 9 from knittyboard.com) for the nifty Tofutsies. I haven’t had the chance to get some of it and it’s interesting. It was and early bday present for me so yippee! I ! She was even so awesome as to get all the patterns for me that were specifically designed for the Tofutsies line. So I’m super prepared for when I get the chance to knit it up.

SP9 Package 1

And I have been knitting up some socks, progress will be posted sometime. Oh, and since my birthday is around the corner, another contest will be coming up shortly. So be on the look out…

At first I really wasn’t too interested in seeing Transformers but dear BF wanted to treat me to dinner and a movie, so heck, why not. All I can say is that, ya’ll should definitely check it out, especially if you have children. The movie turned out to be a lot better than I expected. Great action scenes and hottie Josh Duhamel for eye candy appeal. hehe . I almost teared up a bit because they did such a good job with the Transformers’ performance; so much emotion through a robotic exterior.

My rating:   and out of 5

If you’ve seen the movie, tell me what you think.
