Knitting Soothes the Soul
As I sit here listening to an audio book and am methodically knitting away I come to realize that this process, this…feeling of calmness just overcomes me. We all have our troubles and lately I’ve had some bumps in the road. There have been some tears here and there and moments when I just have no idea, but something will trigger a memory and I try to hold back. Sometimes it works, other times, I’ll just be driving down the highway with tears blurring my vision and burning my eyes. I try to keep this blog simple, keeping many aspects of my life out of it, but I just feel compelled to say that I am so grateful to have fallen in love with this craft. No matter what my worries are, I can just take some time, sit somewhere, listen to something, and just knit away. All my worries and thoughts disappear as I watch the rows and rows of my knitting slowing turning into something. And in the end I’ll have something to remember the moment, be it bad or good. It’ll remind me of what I’ve been through and how far I’ve gotten.

When I start getting stressed, I seem to *stop* doing things I love, which is so silly, because you are so right… knitting is so soothing. I hope you are doing okay, I’ve been having a rough time lately, too. Hang in there! 🙂

Knitting soothes the soul. Life can be so overwhelming sometimes, I hope things continue to get easier day by day! Take care!

((hugs)) I know exactly what you’re saying. Sometimes, it’s just the rhythm, the act of repeating an action and watching it actually create something, that’s like a big cuppa hot chocolate on a chilly day.

Yup, that just about sums it up. No matter what, until the day I die, I will be grateful for the gifts that knitting and spinning have given me.
I hope that things look up for you soon.

I’m with ya! Knitting kept me sane these past 8 months or so. It’s like my secret best friend. 🙂

So very true for me as well. Sending you warmth and hugs for your worries — may they be fewer today than yesterday.

Yes, knitting definitely is therapy. It may not be cheaper than therapy, as some claim, but at the end of it – you have a sweater! Or socks! I’m sorry you’re feeling down and hope things are on the upswing soon. :o)

I know what you mean. Knitting has been one of the few things to keep me sain during my husbands 15 month deployment to Iraq! Hope that the road smoothes out soon!

the repetitive and methodical stitching really has a meditative feeling to it. sometimes though, when i’m really at loose ends, i can’t even knit, i just stare at the yarn and focus on what i can do maybe someday when i’m feeling better.
hope you’re well!!

Knitting de-stresses me too. There’s just something soothing about watching your hands and needles work their magic.
((((Hugs))))
